In 1992 the Bulletin of the Astronomical Institutes of Czechoslovakia merged with the European journal Astronomy and Astrophysics. The Czech Republic is represented in its Board of Directors by P. Harmanec.

This provides the research fellows of the Institute with the possibility of publishing their results and discoveries in a top-level scientific journal with a high impact rating free of charge.

Besides Astronomy and Astrophysics we publish several non-periodical series:

Publications of the Astronomical Institute
The purpose of this non-periodical series is to provide scope for publishing results achieved in the Institute, which are not appropriate for publication in Astronomy and Astrophysics or other international journals (e.g. extended sets of observational data, detailed description of instrumentation, or data processing, or proceedings of conferences organized by the Institute). The issues are exchanged with other astronomical institutions.

Scripta astronomica
This non-periodical series of publications (usually in Czech) is devoted mainly to subjects connected with the history of astronomy and documentation of its vestiges in Bohemia.

The Editorial Board of both the Publications of the Astronomical Institute and Scripta Astronomica consists of: P. Hadrava (Editor-in-Chief), P. Heinzel, P. Pecina, R. Peresty, R. Svaskova and M. Sidlichovsky.

Time and Latitude
is a bulletin for publishing the observed variations of time and latitude in Czech Republic edited by J. Vondrak.

Preprints of the Astronomical Institute
are also published providing the authors with an easy way of circulating their results even before they are published in Astronomy and Astrophysics or elsewhere.

Current Institute news can be found in Informations of the Astronomical Institute published every three months (editor S. Ehlerova).
