Research fields: Magnetohydrodynamic simulations of interplanetary disturbances, acceleration of electrons by shock waves, magnetic clouds in the solar wind. 1980 graduated in Astronomy from Charles University, Prague. Since 1982 at the Astronomical Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy Sciences. 1988 PhD in Astronomy, 1997 DSc in Astronomy. 1992-2000 Head of the Near-Earth Space Physics Department. Since 2000 member of the Solar Physics Department.
