The Interacting Binary beta Lyrae

Beta Lyrae has long been recognized as one of the most complex binary star systems. Recent light synthesis and spectrum synthesis efforts have established an initial model that fits much of the observational data. However, a full explanation of the ultraviolet light curve anomaly remains elusive.
