star
Jan Libich The Be star delta Sco is one of the brightest Be star. For a long time it has been considered a typical B0-type star. It was proved that it is Be star and a binary with a highly-eccentric orbit and period of 10.6 years. It is known also as a LPV (line-profile variable) star with several modes of nonradial pulsations and a member of the Upper Scorpius region of the Sco-Cen association. In June 2000 their optical outburst was observed and it was connected with a strong emission in H alpha and other lines and a periastron passage of the secondary. This emission phase is present up to now. A new analysis of a large collection of electronic spectra from several observatories and instruments covering a time interval of about 11 years enabled to obtain the disentangled line profile and more information about secondary component. Many types of variations were detected and this interesting binary was compared with other similar systems. Srdečně zve Vladimír Karas vedoucí semináře |
